How Does Tattoo Removal Work?
Every color of ink requires a different wavelength of light and energy to be efficiently removed.
The ND Yag Q Switch laser is a high-powered laser that can operate at 2 different wavelengths, making it effective with darker and brighter colors like red and orange.
The treatment breaks down the ink particles without causing damage to the skin. This is achieved by a Photo-Acoustic effect created by the impact of the laser energy delivered with very short pulses to the targeted ink. Over time, your body’s natural healing processes (the lymphatic system) remove the ink fragments from your body. This allows your tattoo to fade with only minimal risks of scarring or skin
How It Feels (Does It Hurt)?
Laser tattoo removal can be uncomfortable, but the level of pain varies depending on the individual's pain tolerance and the size and location of the tattoo. Some people describe the sensation as similar to being snapped with a rubber band, while others compare it to a hot grease splatter. However, most people find the discomfort to be tolerable and worth the result of having their unwanted tattoos removed.
What To Expect After Laser Tattoo Removal?
During tattoo removal you will notice a 'frosting' effect giving the skin a chalky appearance, this is a completely normal reaction, indicating that carbon dioxide is being released from the skin.
Straight after tattoo removal, the area will be red and slightly swollen, this is completely normal and painless and may stay like this for a few days so don't be alarmed.
In the days following the tattoo removal treatment, there may be a little itchiness, some redness, and slight blistering in some cases but clients are fine to go about their daily routine. The lasered area will feel tender and sensitive at first but these symptoms will wear off within a few days.
